AN INDUSTRY THAT WAS ONCE GREAT

THE STORY OF BRUNO, HIS FAMILY AND THINGS YOU FIND ON EBAY KLEINANZEIGEN

Bruno lives close to Stuttgart - in an area called the "Schwäbische Alb".
This was once the heart of the German textile industry.
Every part of the textile value chain was found here.
The Germans produced things that were made to last.

This industry created jobs for thousands of people.
Many of them - like Bruno - were self-employed.
They offered services like cutting or sewing to larger manufacturers.
This allowed them to make a good living.

In the late 20th century Asia was discovered as a place for cheap manufacturing.
Within one or two decades most labor-intense divisions were gone.
Watching every penny, quality was slowly lowered.
The outcome is our current system of fast fashion.

Back to Bruno:
Bruno bought his cutting equipment 35 years back and decided to retire & sell.
With no producers left to buy, we took this EBAY ad as a sign.
So we rented a truck, drove all the way to "Winterlingen", and bought this beauty.

Besides having new equipment to play around, we finally have space to cut larger pieces.
Stay tuned for soda loungwear & pyjamas :)
